Lead Platform Product Manager (Lending Core)
Role Summary
As Lead Platform PM for Lending Core, you will own the shared infrastructure that powers every botim credit product: program configuration, credit decisioning, and the full loan lifecycle. Your users are internal product managers and engineers, not consumers. Your measure of success is whether a PM can configure a new lending program without a single engineering build, and whether the platform is extensible enough to support products we haven't imagined yet.
This is a technical platform role for someone who has built a lending engine — not managed one of its products. If you have spent your career optimising lending journeys, conversion, or P&L, this is not the right fit. If you have architected the configurable infrastructure that lending products run on, we want to talk.
Responsibilities
Own the configuration layer. Define and drive delivery of a self-serve portal that lets product managers configure lending programs — tenors, amounts, interest rates, repayment dates, segmentation rules — without engineering involvement.
Own the credit decision engine. Specify the interface and logic that takes a loan application, applies scoring or decision-tree rules, and returns an outcome to the relevant product. Ensure the engine is extensible across different credit products and risk models.
Own the loan lifecycle state machine. Define the shared application, disbursement, repayment, and settlement states that apply consistently across all products on the platform.
Ensure multi-product compatibility. Design the platform so that different products can coexist with different feature combinations, without bespoke engineering for each. This is the core architectural challenge of the role.
Lead the first migration. Identify the right product to migrate onto the core first, validate the approach, and own the outcome. Current thinking points to SplitPay as the lowest-risk starting point; you will pressure-test and own this call.
Act as gatekeeper on engineering delivery. Review what the engineering team ships and judge whether it is correct, extensible, and built to the right depth — not just functionally sufficient for the immediate use case.
Define requirements across stakeholders. Liaise with lending product PMs, the engineering lead, and senior leadership to translate business needs into platform specifications.
Work alongside AI-assisted engineering. The engineering team is already building with significant AI tooling. You will be comfortable operating in this environment and using it to accelerate MVP delivery.
Requirements
Demonstrable experience building a lending core, loan origination system (LOS), or credit decisioning platform as the product owner — not integrating one as a user. You have worked at or within a lending platform or LOS vendor and owned the engine itself.
Deep architectural knowledge of how lending systems are structured: configuration layers, decisioning modules, lifecycle management, and how a single platform accommodates multiple products with different feature sets.
Breadth across lending product types (consumer instalment, BNPL, SME, revolving credit) sufficient to act as a credible gatekeeper on platform design decisions.
Comfort owning a platform with no consumer-facing surface, where internal PMs and engineers are your primary stakeholders and adoption metrics are your proxy for impact.
Strong requirements definition and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex system behaviours into clear, testable specifications.
